Unfortunately, the story didn’t start out that interesting and the CGI was terrible. But if you can stand the bad CGI in Ten Miles of Peach Blossom or any other Chinese Fantasy drama, you can definitely stand this one too. :P But actually, the budget is more on the average side as they used a lot of extras and different sets for 6 different scenes. Not to mention the clothes the extras wear aren’t cheap and even the extras change their outfits regularly, which shows that the budget is really average. Also, Hanyan’s Hanfus are really beautiful! I always look forward to seeing her outfits because they are so amazing and beautiful. This story is about a famous Chinese deity; Zhong Kui who is in charge of defeating all the demons and evil creatures in the Underworld and it tells his story before he became a deity and the trials and judgments he had to go through. That's why Zhong Yunfei is constantly tested and cannot be broken, since his noble faith is tested again and again. And he has his brothers Hanyan & Fuqu who swear by his side to kill and fight all the demons in the mortal world on his journey to godhood.
